Advice or Gimmick - How To Differentiate The Two

1/17/2020

Gimmicks are everywhere in this day and age, and advice is far too easy to come by these days. It’s important to learn how to differentiate the two, and to know when to listen and when to run!

With so many Facebook articles shared, IG timelines full of supposed to be wisdom-filled memes and quotes, profiles geared towards inspiration, speakers out here thinking they have the “it factor” when in actuality the “it” ain’t there; it is beyond easy to get overwhelmed and to be led down the wrong path.

My take is this...the windfall of advice is normally ignored unless the source is reputable, right?

The wave of knowledge presented is evaded without recognition of a trigger relative to your life, no?

The words spoken are rejected without the appropriate demonstration, dialect and direction, correct?

I am all about listening to learn.

I am all about engaging to be informed.

What I am not about is having my time taken by people with lackluster experiences that swear up and down they are in the know.

In the words of my husband, "It's a gimmick."

He is right.

The gimmicks are real out here these days - there are a myriad of pyramid schemes, the “successful” entrepreneurs infamous for ensuring you will advance with their help and the endless number of life and health coaches that attempt to confront you with all your fears, and guide you to your best life -  if you’re lucky!

What Advice Do You Take?

Some advice is good.  Some not so much. My mantra is to follow your heart. Don't just follow the people with the rebuttals for your concerns or fears. Follow those with the facts and experiences to back up those facts, and if their stories feel true and relate to you, maybe decide to hear them out!

In Order To Grow - You Have To Be Willing To Listen!

I'm just saying, there are those that empower to inspire, and there are those that go to any lengths to stack more paper in their pockets - (I call them the gimmick givers). The reality is though,  in order to get to the next level in life - you have to not only be willing to do something you have never done, but you also have to be willing to listen to someone who wants to help you grow!

So, be open. Be cautious. Be mindful. Be ready to sniff out the gimmicks, but be prepared to absorb some beneficial knowledge and grow into the life you deserve.

Couples Experience and the Experience More lifestyle is where conversation takes place. It is where the experience of exploring new places, new trends, new norms, and great growth takes place. It is where your child-like spirit comes out and shares a good laugh, a good game night, good food and drink and a way to reflect years later on the best that has occurred with friends and strangers alike, through experiences.

This is who we believe we all are. We are individuals desiring the life we want. We are individuals seeking the best connections to get us to the next level. We are individuals that see the best in another, and they too see the best in us. We are individuals of all ages and backgrounds with a story to share.

So get in on the Experience More lifestyle, and hop on that bandwagon of living your best life because, I know you’ve heard it before - this life...this experience...is just too damn short not to enjoy it!
